K.P. Anderson
K.P. Anderson
KP Anderson is back âdancing with the one that brought himâ. Having started as a college-aged standup comic in the booming Minneapolis comedy scene in 1990, KP quickly rose through the ranks as an up-and-coming comedian and becoming a touring headline act. With a reputation as an inventive and uninhibited writer and performer to watch, KP moved to Los Angeles in 1993, quickly becoming a âregularâ at the clubs in LA and making his mark as a âNew Faceâ in the prestigious âJust for Laughsâ Montreal Comedy Festival in 1997. KP appeared regularly in the late â90âs and early 2000âs on all of TVâs standup showcase shows at the same time his career as a comedy/variety writer and producer began to take off. KP got his first breaks as a writer from Keenan Ivory Wayans who brought him aboard his late-night talk show, followed by Bill Maher who put him on the staff of âPolitically Incorrectâ. From there, KP went on to write and produce on a variety of shows including his first head writer job on ESPNâs âMohr Sportsâ with Jay Mohr, an Emmy Award Winning stint as head writer for âThe Wayne Brady Showâ and writing and ultimately supervising producing NBCâs âLast Comic Standingâ, before becoming the Executive Producer (Showrunner) and Head Writer for the 12 years of âThe Soup with Joel McHaleâ E! Entertainment Televisionâs iconic pop-culture and reality TV wrap up show. KPâs standup career began to take a back seat as the responsibilities of running TV shows took over, but not before making a return to âJust for Laughâsâ to appear in a Gala performance and touring nationally with McHale and playing such iconic venues as Carnegie Hall, The Chicago Theater, The Verizon Amphitheater in Dallas, the legendary Wiltern in LA and many more. As a producer, in addition to âThe Soupâ, KP has overseen a mountain of shows starring some of the most iconic comics of our time. âThe Joel McHale Showâ and âNorm MacDonald has a Showâ for Netflix, âPickledâ with Stephen Colbert , âKevin Hart: Lyft Legendâ, âThe DL Hughley Showâ and the list goes on. Now, KP is returning to his standup roots (starting at ACME, his hometown club!) with a brand-new act spun from the point of view of a person who has survived decades in showbusiness, stayed married for 23-years (and counting), raised a daughter who still talks to him and somehow managed to not mature at all. KP Anderson-Middle Aged Up and Comer promises to be a laugh-filled evening with a guy who you may never have heard of, while enjoying his work for years.
